Christian Aid
Throughout Christian Aid week, St. Thomas C.E (VA) Primary Academy aimed to raise money for the charity Christian Aid through a challenging sponsorship walking challenge. The aim was for this money to go towards building earth dams, in places like Kenya, to reduce the amount of time it took to collect water for drinking, hygiene and growing crops.
Case studies have shown that earth dams can reduce walking for water from a torturous 3 hours to 30 minutes, which provides families extra time to develop farms and even go to school (https://www.christianaid.org.uk/appeals/key-appeals/christian-aid-week?fbclid=IwAR0MHwY6hKJa3bKACb_jJWcQxJw9Pzt3KdnfJqiOU1AxFmdihRmwuaWKlak)
We are so proud of the efforts of our children who, collectively, raised an incredible £814.16 and completed a monumental 400 hours of walking between them: a true inspiration to us all.
